Professor Alex Broom
Professor Alex Broom is the Project Lead for the “Life, Death and Meaning” study. Alex is Professor of Sociology at The University of Sydney, and Director of the Sydney Centre for Healthy Societies. His work takes a person-centred approach to health, illness and care, exploring the intersections of individual experience and social, political and economic context.

Associate Professor Nadine Ehlers
Associate Professor Nadine Ehlers teaches in the Discipline of Sociology and Criminology at The University of Sydney. She is Deputy Director of the Sydney Centre for Healthy Societies. Her research focuses on the socio-cultural study of the body, law and biomedicine to examine the racial and gendered governance of individuals and populations.

Dr Katherine Kenny
Dr Katherine Kenny is a Senior Research Fellow and Deputy Director of the Sydney Centre for Healthy Societies at The University of Sydney. Her research draws on social theory and qualitative methods to better understand how health and illness are understood, treated, experienced and made meaningful both in healthcare setting and in daily life.

Dr Leah Williams Veazey
Dr Leah Williams Veazey is a Research Fellow in Sociology at The University of Sydney and the Sydney Centre for Healthy Societies. Her research interests include migration, care, health, and digital cultures. Her research uses qualitative methods, most commonly, in-depth interviews, to explore contemporary social experiences, with a focus on the intersections of health, mobility and relational sociology.

Dr Henrietta Byrne
Dr Henrietta Byrne is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Sydney Centre for Healthy Societies at the University of Sydney. She joins the team from the University of Adelaide, where she completed her PhD in Anthropology and Science and Technology Studies (STS). Her research uses qualitative methods and ethnography to examine questions of health and wellbeing across the life-course and across generations.

Dr Stephanie Raymond
Dr Stephanie Raymond is Centre Manager of the Sydney Centre for Healthy Societies, and a Research Officer in the School of Social and Political Sciences at The University of Sydney. Stephanie has a diverse professional background spanning health, communications and the social sciences, and she recently completed her PhD at The University of Queensland.
